Results CCNR-studies on financial instruments to bring the emission of greenhouse gases and pollutants from inland shipping out now!

Results CCNR-studies on financial instruments to bring the emission of greenhouse gases and pollutants from inland shipping out now!

In order to improve the environmental sustainability of inland navigation on the Rhine and on inland waterways, the CCNR was given the task, in the Mannheim Declaration, of working towards a reduction in greenhouse gas emissions and pollutant emissions and of taking the initiative in developing new financial instruments to achieve these objectives.

There is a need for new and updated financial instruments, as the existing financing and funding mechanisms have so far failed to produce the expected results.

Contribution of CLINSH
The results of the CCNR studies are aimed at setting up a new financial instrument to bring the emissions of greenhouse gases and pollutants from inland shipping to almost 0% by 2050. An in-depth analysis of, among other things, drive technologies and various financing mechanisms, as well as recommendations for new financing instruments, is described in various sub-reports. We are proud that we have been able to collaborate with CCNR through the CLINSH - Clean Inland Shipping project and contribute to the results of these studies!

The transition to zero-emissions in inland shipping is a step-by-step process in which an important step is taken in the CLINSH project by demonstrating techniques with which inland shipping can already contribute to emission reduction and thus cleaner air. In the autumn we will present the CLINSH project results and recommendations based on our demonstration and studies, in which the insights and knowledge gained from the CCNR studies are of course included.
